Sharon Draper’s Decisions

Sharon Draper made a lot of great decisions when writing Out of My Mind that I really appreciated. One of her decisions that I enjoyed a lot was how she made me better understand what families with disabilities go through.“I can’t talk. I can’t walk. I can’t feed myself or take myself to the bathroom. Big bummer.’’ Another decision I like is how Sharon made Melody talk in first person point of view to put us in Melody’s shoes. “My arms and hands are pretty stiff, but I can mash the buttons on the TV remote and move my wheelchair with the help of knobs I can grab on the wheels.”The third thing I like about Sharon Draper is she has a wide vocabulary.“Words have always swirled around me like snowflakes-each one delicate and different, each one melting untouched in my hands.’’ Those are just a few of the decisions that I observed in the book “Out of My Mind.” I appreciated every single one of them.

Life in 5th Grade

5th grade is so cool!We are learning a lot of new stuff this year like in Mrs. McFall’s class we are learning about exploration. We learned that Christopher Columbus never stepped a foot on to America and yet,he gets all the credit for “finding”America.A man named Amerigo Vespucci actually gave America it’s name.In Mr. McBride’s class,we are learning about the life cycle of all different types of animals. It’s so cool!In Mrs. Brantley’s class we are learning how to multiply 3 digit by 2 digit numbers using partial products. It’s pretty hard when you start doing it for the first time, but as you go on,it gets easier. Also,in 5th grade we get to play a math game called Prodigy. My class is kind of addicted to it including me.It’s a wizard game where you have to fight monsters and stuff, but you fight the monsters doing math problems. That’s really addicted once you get really high up in your level. You get weapons and stuff by fighting more and more monsters. If you want the exclusive things then you have to get a membership.Unfortunatley, that costs like 8 real dollars.5th grade is so fun.i’m looking forward to a fantastic year

My First Deer

Have you ever killed a deer before?I know I have.I remember the time and day,it was November 8th, at about 5:35 or 5:40 I thought a deer would never come, then a 7 point buck walked out behind the bushes, but I couldn’t get a clear shot. After that,he slowly eased out of the bushes, but he got behind the deer feeder’s leg.Just after that,he inched forward,so my Papa handed me the gun .I couldn’t see the deer because it was too dark and the red dot was too big, so my Papa made it smaller. Then,I started shaking all over and he said”calm down.”So I did and then” BOOM!!!!!.” the gun went. Then he was flopping around all over the place. After that, about 20 minutes later,he was dead and gone forever. Then,my Papa and I  went down there where the deer was. After that, we saw a flashlight,it was my Mimi coming to congratulate me for killing a deer we were all very exited. The next morning,we skinned the deer.It was nasty! Then,we had to leave Arkansas. I was very sad.I can’t wait to go again.
